Alexander Sproule was walker found dead on Ben Cruachan

A pensioner who died while hill walking in Argyll at the weekend has been named by police.

Alexander Sproule, 74, from Edinburgh, had become separated from his group when they were descending Ben Cruachan on Saturday.

The emergency services were notified at about 21:30.

Rescue teams and an RAF helicopter searched around the Munro near Loch Awe until the early hours. His body was found on Sunday.
