The accident happened outside the Western General Hospital
An elderly woman who died after being hit by a car outside an Edinburgh hospital has been named by police.
Mary Dawson was crossing Porterfield Road at the Western General Hospital on Tuesday when the collision happened.
The 81-year-old, from the Marchmont area of the city, was treated at the scene but died from her injuries.
Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the accident outside the hospital's Anne Ferguson Building at 16:00 on Tuesday.
