Attack outside The Venue nightclub in Methil 'was attempted murder'

An attack on a man outside a Fife nightclub is being treated as attempted murder, police have said.

The 27-year-old victim was assaulted by at least two men who repeatedly struck him on the head and body.

Police Scotland said they believed a weapon had been used, and the victim sustained serious injuries.

The incident happened at about 01:30 on Sunday outside The Venue nightclub on Wellesley Road in Methil. Detectives appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Det Sgt Graeme Dursley said: "This is a particularly serious incident that is being treated as attempted murder.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact the police, any information you have may be crucial to the enquiry."
