Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with a fraud scam which targeted an Edinburgh shop.

The incident took place at a store in the Lawnmarket on Sunday 13 April.

A man chatted with members of staff before asking them to exchange notes of smaller denomination for notes of a high denomination.

Using distraction and confusion techniques, he received more money back from the staff than he had handed over.

The man is described as white, between 5ft 7ins and 6ft tall, about 30 years old, of slim build, with black hair.

He was wearing a black shirt and grey trousers.

A Police Scotland spokesman appealed for witnesses.
