Police reassure public after shooting in Edinburgh's Corstorphine

The police said they want to "reassure the community" and have launched an extensive inquiry following a firearms incident in Edinburgh.

It follows gunshots at a property in Drum Brae Terrace, Corstorphine, at 23:30 on Friday.

There are no reports of any injuries. A man in a light-coloured top and black jogging bottoms was seen in the area and police are appealing for witnesses.

A car was also spotted being driven off the road and onto a grassy area nearby.

Ch Insp Bob Paris said: "People in the Drumbrae area are understandably concerned following the incident on Friday evening.

"We have a dedicated team carrying out inquiries and we are monitoring the situation closely.

"Police Scotland will not tolerate such reckless and dangerous acts within our communities.

"We are continuing high visibility patrols around Drumbrae as well as carrying out door to door inquiries."
