Man sought by police investigating Stevenston murder
Police investigating the murder of a 27-year-old man in North Ayrshire have issued a description of a man they want to trace.
Scott Margery died in hospital after being stabbed in Stevenston at about 0355 BST on Sunday.
Officers want to trace a man who is believed to have spoken with Scott in the town centre at about 0330 BST.
This man is described as being in his 30s with short dark hair and was wearing a dark jacket.
Det Ch Insp David Gailey, of Strathclyde Police major investigation team, said: "Scott was a well known and popular individual in the Stevenston area.
"We have had a very good response from the community of Stevenston and as a result have traced a large number of people who saw Scott prior to his death.
"There is, however, a man that I am keen to speak to who I believe spoke with Mr Margery in the Main Street area of Stevenston around 0330hrs on Sunday 18 July 2010."
Det Ch Insp Gailey said he believes someone from the community knows who is responsible for Scott's murder.
He added: "Scott was a father and had many friends in the Stevenston area and his murder has badly affected a whole section of this community."
