A man is in hospital after being stabbed in the chest in the early hours of the morning.
Police are treating the "vicious" attack on the 25 year-old in Paisley's Fairway Avenue at 0240 BST as attempted murder.
The Strathclyde force said the man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.
He is said to be in a stable condition. Police have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in and around the area.
Det Sgt Andrew Piper said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Fairway Avenue and saw or heard a disturbance.
"Any information from the public no matter how trivial would be extremely helpful at this stage.
"It's vital we trace the person or persons responsible for this vicious attack."
