Man dragged from car and beaten in Paisley

A 39-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being dragged from his car by a gang of youths in Renfrewshire and subjected to a "vicious assault".

The attack happened on Barochan Way, Ferguslie Park, Paisley, at about 2210 BST on Sunday.

The man was taken by ambulance to the town's Royal Alexandra Hospital where he was treated for a head wound.

No description of the suspects is available. Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Det Sgt Russell Duncan, from Strathclyde Police, said: "Our enquiries are at a preliminary stage and at this moment in time we are unsure exactly how many people were involved in the attack.

"I would therefore appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or any residents who may have heard a disturbance just after 2200 hours last night, to get in touch.

"However insignificant they feel it might be, their information could be vital to our enquiries."
