Man stabbed during Renfrew street attack

A 40-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed during a fight in Renfrewshire.

The man was seriously injured in Paisley Road, near Victoria Road East, Renfrew, at about 1530 BST on Thursday.

He is being treated at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital, where his condition is described as critical but stable.

There are no descriptions of suspects but police said three men are believed to have been seen running from the scene.

Det Sgt Drew Piper, of Strathclyde Police, said: "We are carrying out door-to-door enquiries and checking local CCTV to establish exactly what happened yesterday afternoon.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Paisley Road and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact us."
