Attacked man suffered neck injury


A man is recovering in hospital from a serious neck injury which he received during an assault in Irvine, Ayrshire.

Strathclyde Police believe the victim was involved in a disturbance in the Harbour Lights Pub in the town before he was attacked.

The 23-year-old was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock following the incident which happened at about 0020 on Sunday.

Det Insp Scott McClelland said officers would be studying CCTV footage.

He added: "I'd like to speak to anyone who was within the Harbour Lights Pub around midnight and who witnessed some kind of disturbance taking place."
