Prisoner dies in Barlinnie jail

A 27-year-old man has died while on remand in prison in Glasgow.

James Bell was remanded in custody on 13 August at Glasgow Sheriff Court. He died later the same day in the city's Barlinnie jail.

It is not yet clear what the cause of Mr Bell's death was. The Scottish Prison Service said that his family had been informed.

A fatal accident inquiry will be held in due course.
