A 41-year-old man is being treated for stab wounds after an attempted murder in Glasgow.
The attack happened in the Cathcart area at about 1540 BST on Friday.
Strathclyde Police said the victim was walking along Stravanan Terrace when he was approached by a man then seriously assaulted.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Victoria Infirmary where his condition is described as "serious but stable".
Det Con Scott Brockie said the force was checking local CCTV in a bid to identify the attacker and that officers would be carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area.
He added: "We are still trying to establish a motive for this violent attack.
"The incident happened in a residential area and in broad daylight.
"I would therefore appeal to any local residents who may have witnessed the attack or heard a disturbance to get in touch with police."
