Two men admit shooting murder bid

Two men have admitted shooting the brother of a notorious Scottish gangland figure at his home in Glasgow.

Eddie Boyd, 48, was attacked in the hallway of his home in the Pollok area on 22 September last year. His partner Sharon MacPherson was also injured.

On the second day of their trial at the High Court in Glasgow, Christopher Bailiff and James MacPherson pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

They were remanded in custody until sentencing later this month.

Gary Docherty, 23, who also faced the same allegation, walked free after prosecutors withdrew all charges against him.

Trial judge Lord Brailsford adjourned the case until later this month when it is expected further details of the attack will be heard.

Bailiff and MacPherson were remanded in custody and face lengthy jail-terms for trying to kill Mr Boyd.

The shooting is thought to be the fifth time Mr Boyd has survived being shot.

Mr Boyd's brother "Specky" was a major gangland figure, who was killed in a crash in Spain in 2003.
