Inquiry launched after corpse found in Glasgow flat

The death of a man, whose badly decomposed body was found at a house in Glasgow, is being treated as suspicious by police.

Officers, who had been alerted by housing association staff, forced the door of a flat on Old Dumbarton Road at about 1050 BST on Friday.

Police found the dead man within the Yorkhill flat, and said he may have lain there for a number of months.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was described as heavily built.

Police said he was 5ft 10in tall, with short brown hair.

Det Insp Willie Park, said: "We know who the flat was leased to, however, that is not to say that it is the person whose body we found.

"We know the door was not forced, however, did anyone see or hear anything suspicious even if it was some time ago?

"I would ask, is there someone you used to see on a regular basis, maybe in a local shop, pub or bookies, who has not been about for a while?

"Maybe he was due to visit a doctor, dentist or has not been paying bills, or there was no answer when, for example, utility companies, sales people or charities attended at the flat.

"We want people to come forward so that we can identify him and piece together his life and find out exactly what happened to him."
