Man admits assaulting policeman at Papal Mass

A man has admitted assaulting a police officer during last month's Papal Mass at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.

Christopher McGill, 30, was halted by Ch Insp Kenny Graham while he went searching for a toilet.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard how he then tried to punch and bite the officer in front of horrified worshippers.

McGill admitted charges of assault and breach of the peace and placed on a 100-day curfew keeping him at home between 1900 and 0700 during that time.
