Police say an alleged rape in Glasgow 'did not happen'

Published

An investigation into an alleged rape of a teenage girl in Glasgow city centre at the weekend has established that no crime took place.

Strathclyde Police had appealed for witnesses after the 18-year-old was said to have been attacked in Mitchell Lane at about 0300 GMT on Sunday.

The force also issued a description of a muscular white man who was being sought in connection with the incident.

Police have now said that no rape took place, following "extensive" inquiries.
