Third teenager charged over Auchinleck airgun attack

A third teenager has appeared in court in connection with an airgun attack near a school in East Ayrshire in which 11 pupils were injured.

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with assault at Ayr Sheriff Court.

He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail. Two others have been charged over the incident on Wednesday.

None of the Auchinleck Academy pupils struck with pellets in the town's Church Street area was seriously hurt.

The five girls and six boys received medical treatment for minor injuries.

Firearms officers were called to the incident, which happened just after 1330 GMT on Wednesday.

Another 15-year-old boy and Kyle Allison, 18, from Ayrshire, were charged with assault on Thursday.

Mr Allison was remanded in custody. The boy was given bail.
