Oil fire at Glasgow engineering works

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in industrial furnaces at a engineering works in Glasgow which contained more than 1,000 gallons of oil.

Crews were called to Albion Automotive, Scotstoun, at 1703 GMT on Monday.

Officers wearing breathing apparatus spread foam over the fire while colleagues blocked drains to prevent the oil running into the sewage system.

Moves are being made to decant what remains of the oil into a tanker. The Albion plant remains operational.
