Probe after man shot in the back

A 24-year-old man is in hospital after being shot in the back in the east end of Glasgow on Tuesday night.

Police said the man was on Inverleith Street in Carntyne at about 2200 GMT when he heard a loud bang and felt a pain in his back.

The man made his own way to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. He is in a stable condition.

Detectives are treating the incident as attempted murder and have launched an investigation.

Det Sgt Mark Henderson said: "Firstly I would like to re-assure the public that we have no doubt that this was a targeted attack and not a random incident.

"That said, we are carrying out extensive enquires to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident."

Det Sgt Henderson said he wanted to speak to anyone who may have seen three vehicles in the Carntyne area being driven erratically and at high speed.
