Man, 21, hurt in 'violent attack' in Carmyle

A man has been treated in hospital after being the victim of a "violent attack" in the east end of Glasgow.

The 21-year-old was injured in a grassy area between Liddle Street and Foxley Street, in the city's Carmyle area, at about 1100 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and treated for injuries, which police said were not life threatening.

Officers are conducting a search of the area and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Det Con Morag Gibson, from Strathclyde Police, said: "We believe this man suffered a violent attack and we are trying to establish exactly how it happened.

"The grassy area where we believe the assault took place is surrounded by residential properties with footpaths leading off it and I feel sure that someone in the local community will have seen or heard something.

"I know some people can be reluctant to speak to police but I would urge anyone with any knowledge or information to contact us."
