A82 at Milton reopens after false alarm 'bomb alert'

  • Published

The A82 at Milton, West Dunbartonshire, has reopened after a suspicious package at a BP petrol station saw the Royal Navy bomb disposal team called in.

Strathclyde Police said the incident turned out to be "a false alarm".

It was not related to an incident in nearby Renton, where a man was arrested in connection with the murder of a policeman in Northern Ireland.

The earlier closure caused significant congestion, with traffic backing up eastbound as far as the Erskine Bridge.
