Woman rescued after river plunge at Strathclyde Park

A 56-year-old woman has been rescued after falling from a bridge near Strathclyde Country Park.

It is understood the woman was walking along the A723 Motherwell road when she fell into the water.

A police spokeswoman said three firefighters and rangers from Strathclyde Park all went to her assistance.

She was aided to the shore and is now being treated at Wishaw General Hospital.
