A85 road crash near Dalmally kills woman and child

A woman and a young child have died following a road crash on the A85 near the village of Dalmally in Argyll.

The incident, involving a Fiat Punto and a Ford Transit low-loader vehicle, happened at about 1215 BST on Wednesday.

Strathclyde Police said the female driver of the Fiat Punto and a young child died at the scene.

Another young child is being treated for "serious injuries" at Yorkhill children's hospital in Glasgow.

The male van driver was given medical treatment at the scene but did not attend hospital.

The A85 was closed in both directions at Strone Hill as police investigated the accident.
