Tesco given go-ahead in Larkhall

Councillors in South Lanarkshire have given the go-ahead for a new Tesco supermarket in Larkhall.

The authority's planning committee approved plans for a 25,000 sq ft store in the town's Raploch Street.

The supermarket giant said is was "delighted" with the decision, which it said could create more than 150 jobs.

But Tesco said a council decision to grant another supermarket application in the area could "impact" on its own plans and there was not room for two.
