Man impaled on ladder at house in Lanarkshire

A 46-year-old man has suffered neck and chest injuries after he impaled himself on a ladder at a house in Lanarkshire.

Strathclyde firefighters used a saw to cut the slats off the ladder before the man was taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called to Glengowan Road in Caldercruix, Lanarkshire, at about 2120 BST following the incident.

The man was taken to Monklands Hospital in Airdrie where the ladder was surgically removed.
