A man wearing a high visibility jacket has stolen a five figure sum of money after forcing his way into a Glasgow post office.

A female employee opened the door to the raider at the premises in Nitshill at about 07:50.

He pushed her inside, assaulted her and made her open the safe. He then made off with the cash along Peat Road.

The 45-year-old woman did not require hospital treatment but has been left very distressed by the incident.

Det Insp Scott McMillan said: "The suspect is described a white, of heavy build, about 5ft 10in height and was wearing a high visibility jacket.

"It may be that due to the fact he was wearing this jacket, people in the area might have seen him hanging about the post office or running off after the robbery."
