Police investigate attempted murder in Paisley

Police are investigating the attempted murder of a 41-year-old man in Paisley.

The man was walking along Causeyside Street, near its junction with Stow Brae, at 16:25 on Monday when a man got out of a silver car and attacked him.

The suspect then got back into the car, which was driven off. The victim is being treated in hospital for a head injury.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for anyone with information about the attack to come forward.

Det Insp Mark McGowan said: "At the time of the attack, Causeyside Street would have been very busy with both motorists and pedestrians.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have seen the silver car stopping or moving away, to contact my officers."

He said inquiries were ongoing in the area and CCTV footage was being examined.

Staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley described the victim's condition as serious but stable.
