Man 'stable' following Carluke shooting

A 28-year-old man has been shot in an early-morning incident at Carluke in Lanarkshire.

He has been taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

Strathclyde Police said they were called to a firearms incident at about 00:40 on Sunday.

They have arrested an 18-year-old man following the shooting. The police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

High-visibility police patrols have been deployed in the area to provide reassurance to the public.
