A man has gone on trial charged with the murder of his baby daughter.

Craig Jamieson is alleged to have killed four-month-old Abbie at his then flat in Dumbarton Road, Scotstoun, Glasgow, on 8 February 2008.

The 32 year-old, from the city's Knightswood area, also faces two allegations of assault against Abbie in December 2007 and February 2008.

He denies the charges at the High Court in Glasgow and has lodged a special defence of incrimination.

It is claimed that "by means to the prosecutor unknown", Mr Jamieson inflicted blunt force trauma to Abbie's head and body leaving her so severely injured that she died at the city's Yorkhill Hospital.

The trial, before Lord Matthews, continues. The case is expected to last up to four weeks.
