Man injured in Sugar Cube nightclub attack

A 23-year-old man has been seriously injured following an attack at a nightclub in Glasgow.

Strathclyde Police said the incident involved a group of people and also left a 22-year-old woman with a minor arm injury.

It happened at the Sugar Cube nightclub in Queen Street at about 03:15 on Sunday.

The injured man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where his condition was described as "serious".

The suspect was described as white, about 5ft 9in tall, well built with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark jumper.

It is believed he headed up towards Argyle Street.

Motive unclear

Officers will be gathering CCTV images from in and around the area.

Det Sgt Stuart Glass said: "A young man has been seriously injured - as yet the motive remains unclear.

"Our inquiry is at an early stage and we are in the process of piecing together the details of what happened.

"I would appeal to anyone who was at the nightclub last night and who may have any information about the incident or the suspect to please get in touch with us.

"There may well be information which could prove vital in helping us trace the person responsible for this attack."
