Another Glasgow City councillor leaves Labour for rival group

Another de-selected Glasgow Labour councillor has left the party to stand against former colleagues.

Councillor Ellen Hurcombe was told last year she would not be able to stand as a Labour candidate in May's elections.

She now intends, along with a number of other former Labour councillors, to stand under the banner Glasgow First.

In 2007, Glasgow was one of two councils on which Labour had an outright majority. The ruling Labour group is now a minority administration.

A spokesman for Labour said later on Wednesday that Cllr Hurcombe had re-joined the party.
