Woman, 90, robbed by bogus caller in Shettleston

Police are hunting a bogus workman who stole a three-figure sum of cash from a 90-year-old woman at her Glasgow home.

The man called at the woman's flat in Shettleston at about 13:45 on Wednesday and said he wanted to check the gas and electricity supplies.

The woman confronted him after he stole cash from her purse but the man pushed her and ran from the flat.

He is described as a white male who spoke with a Glasgow accent. He is in his 30s and about 5ft 5in in height.

He had short black hair with a possible grey tinge at the sides, and a thin face with "narrow" eyes and a thin build.

He was wearing a waist length dark coloured anorak made of glossy material with red stripes on both sides, dark jeans, thick grey workman-style gloves and had a scruffy appearance.
