OAP 'serious' after being knocked down in Glasgow city centre

An elderly man is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in the centre of Glasgow.

A Strathclyde Police spokesman said the man was knocked down outside Barrhead Travel in Oswald Street at about 18:50 on Monday.

He was taken by ambulance to the city's Royal Infirmary.

The road was initially closed between Argyle Street and Broomielaw.
