Brian Murdoch detained for shooting attack on Alan Taylor

A teenager who shot a man in the neck with an air rifle during a failed robbery bid has been detained for four years and three months.

Brian Murdoch, 16, admitted attacking 44-year-old Alan Taylor as he was walking with his daughter in Paisley's Ferguslie Park area in November.

The High Court in Aberdeen heard that Murdoch chased him and hit him on the head with the butt of the rifle.

Mr Taylor needed surgery to remove a metal pellet embedded in his neck.
