Woman robbed in Glasgow after 'corrosive liquid' threat

Police are hunting a man who robbed a teenager in Glasgow after threatening to pour a corrosive liquid over her.

The 19-year-old woman was walking in Pollokshaws Road, near Queens Park, Glasgow, at about 18:00 on Saturday when the incident occurred.

The man then ran off with her purse, which contained only a small amount of cash.

Strathclyde Police said the teenager was unhurt but warned her attacker could attempt to threaten others.

PC Scott Brockie said: "This was a very nasty and extremely frightening ordeal for the young girl involved. Thankfully, she did not require hospital treatment but she is absolutely terrified by what has happened.

"A couple of people came to her aid and I would ask that they contact police as they might have information that will help us catch the man responsible."

He added: "Pollokshaws Road would have been busy at this time and I am sure the man would have been in the area some time before this attack.

"On this occasion, he did not get away with much money, so it is very possible he may try and do this again."

The attacker is described as in his 20s, 5ft 10in, with short black hair and sunken features.

He was wearing a grey hooded top, with the number six in white on the back, black trousers and white trainers.
