Norovirus closes six wards at Royal Alexandra Hospital

Two more wards at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley have been closed to new patients following an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting.

The closures mean the symptoms - which are thought to be caused by Norovirus - are present in six wards at the Renfrewshire hospital.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said that none of the 26 patients affected were giving cause for concern.

The authority said strict infection control procedures were in place.
