James Grant found murdered in Scotstoun home

Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 59-year-old man was discovered in his Glasgow home.

James Grant was found in his flat at Kingsway Court, Scotstoun, on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the address after concerned relatives had been unable to contact him.

A post-mortem examination has now confirmed that Mr Grant was murdered.

Det Ch Insp John McDonald, of Strathclyde Police's major investigation team, said the last reported sighting of Mr Grant had been at about 13:00 on Tuesday 8 May.

He added: "So far, we have been unable to trace anyone who has seen or spoken to him since that date. We are trying to establish when he died and it is possible that he may have been murdered any time from 8 May.

"I have a large number of officers in the area carrying out house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV recordings.

"It is crucial that I speak with anyone who saw Mr Grant between 1pm on Tuesday 8 May and Wednesday 23 May as they may hold vital information that can assist me in finding who is responsible for this murder.

"I'm also keen to trace all Mr Grant's friends and associates and I urge them to contact the incident room in order that my officers can speak with them."

Anyone with information that may be useful to the investigation is asked to contact the incident room at Anderston Police Office.
