Man's death in close of flats in Ruchazie 'suspicious'

The death of a man whose body was found in the north east of Glasgow is being treated as "suspicious".

Police were called flats in Blairlogie Street, in the Ruchazie area, at 04:50 on Wednesday, after reports that a man's body was lying in a close.

The man, thought to be about 50 years old, had suffered serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

He has yet to be identified and a post mortem examination will be held to determine how he died.

Det Insp Laura Thomson, of Strathclyde Police, who is leading this enquiry, said: "It is only a matter of hours since his body was found and our enquiries are at a very early stage.

"At this time, our priority is to identify this man and we are appealing for help.

"The only description so far is that he is aged approximately 50 years old, heavy built with short greying hair and was wearing a black long-sleeved top, blue jeans and grey and orange trainers."

Det Insp Thomson said officers wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area of Blairlogie Street on Tuesday night and saw or heard any sort of disturbance.
