Strathclyde Police plug Olympic security gap left by G4S

Extra police officers are being drafted in for Olympic events in Scotland after the security firm G4S confirmed it could not meet commitments.

Strathclyde Police said it would not divulge details on the number of officers required or what venues they would be needed.

It said the shortfall would be met through overtime or altering duties.

Eight Olympic football matches are to be played at Hampden Stadium in Glasgow in July and August.
