The jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering an OAP with his own car has retired to consider its verdict.

Christopher Grenfell, 25, is accused of deliberately running over 76-year-old James Simpson while stealing his car outside his home on 29 November 2011.

He denies the charge and claims the incident, at Ashgill, South Lanarkshire, was culpable homicide.

Co-accused William MacVicar, 24, denies a charge of being involved in the theft of Mr Simpson's Land Rover.
