Man's body found on Springburn Road in Glasgow

An investigation is under way after a man's body was found on a street in Glasgow city centre.

The man's body was found on the A803 Springburn Road, underneath Baird Street bridge, at about 05:25.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said it was not yet known whether or not the man's death was suspicious.

Springburn Road was closed for several hours, between Stirling Road and Baird Street, while enquiries continued. It has since re-opened.

Det Insp David Mackie, of Strathclyde Police, said: "I would like to speak to any pedestrians or motorists who were in the vicinity of Springburn Road, near to the Baird Street bridge just prior to the time of the body's discovery.

"At this time we are treating the death as unexplained. We believe the man may have fallen from the bridge onto the carriageway and may have been struck by a vehicle."
