A man who set off a smoke bomb at a football match between Airdrie and Ayr United has been jailed for six months.

James Doolan was convicted of the offence, at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on 9 May, following a trial at the town's Sheriff Court.

He was also given a seven-year football banning order.

The 40-year-old was detained at a house in Troon, South Ayrshire, in July by officers from the football co-ordination unit for Scotland.
