Brian Crossan jailed for Greg McHugh 'road rage' attack

A man who left another motorist bleeding on the street with a fractured skull following a minor collision has been jailed for five years.

Brian Crossan attacked 28-year-old Greg McHugh during a confrontation in Ferguslie Road, Paisley, Renfrewshire, on 2 February last year.

The 27-year-old, from Rutherglen, was convicted of assault following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

Crossan was also banned from driving for 12 months.

Temporary judge Sean Murphy QC said the offence appeared "out of character" for Crossan, but that what happened was "very serious".

The judge added: "Regardless how this began, you struck Mr McHugh with a heavy object. Your reaction was excessive and the court has to impose a prison sentence."
