Andrew Farndon accused of trying to rob police officers at gunpoint

A man has been charged with trying to rob two police officers of their vehicle in East Ayrshire after threatening them with an imitation gun.

Andrew Farndon, 27, is alleged to have committed the offence in Cumnock, in January last year.

He appeared for a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, where he also faces five other firearms charges.

This includes a claim he had a blank firing pistol with "intent to resist or prevent his lawful arrest".

Mr Farndon is finally charged with having an axe in a public place.

The 27-year-old's lawyer Lorenzo Alonzi asked for the case to be continued without a plea being entered.

Judge Lord Kinclaven set a further hearing due to take place later this month.
