Girl, 8, injured after being hit by car in Wishaw

A young girl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Newmains near Wishaw in North Lanarkshire.

It happened at about 13:30 on Westwood Road.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said the girl was being treated for leg injuries. They are not believed to be life threatening.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist was airlifted to the Southern General in Glasgow after colliding with a car in Mossblown in South Ayrshire.

The crash happened on the B743 near the Whitletts roundabout at about 12:20.

The motorcyclist's injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
