Man slashed in attempted murder at Greenock flat

A man is being treated for slash wounds to his face, chest and abdomen after a fight at a flat in Inverclyde.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance at the property in Wren Road, Greenock, at 21:40 on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old man was found with injured and taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Police have appealed for information over the attack, which they are treating as attempted murder.

It is thought that a fight broke out at the flat before spilling out into the common close.

The suspect is described as white, in his mid 20s and was wearing a green jacket and dark trousers.

Det Sgt Mark Gilmour said: "We are currently carrying out door-to-door enquiries and checking CCTV images.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything which they think may assist our inquiry to get in touch with us.

"If you perhaps noticed anyone going into the close or coming out around the time of the incident, please contact us, any information you provide could prove significant."
