Man dies after car and van collide in central Glasgow

A 50-year-old driver has died after taking ill at the wheel of his car which was subsequently involved in a crash with a van in central Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Finnieston Street, just north of the Clyde Arc bridge, at 09:45 on Monday.

The man was taken to the Western Infirmary where he later died. The driver of the van was uninjured.

The road was closed off for a time in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene.
