Alan Gallagher charged over strip search of boy

A man is to stand trial charged with pretending to be a police officer so he could strip-search an 11-year-old boy as a drugs suspect in East Ayrshire.

Alan Gallagher is said to have told children in a swing-park in Newmilns, on 18 June, that he had a warrant card and that his pet was a sniffer dog.

He is alleged to have accused the boy of taking drugs and said he would have to strip-search him.

Mr Gallagher, 23, denies sexually-aggravated breach of the peace.

The accused, from Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, was freed on bail at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court pending trial next month.
