Man, 50, dies in Kilmarnock after van hits wall

A 50-year-old man has died after the van he was driving collided with a wall in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire.

The man was alone in the Peugeot van when it hit the wall in the town's Lawson Street at about 15:50 on Monday.

Emergency services attended and he was taken to nearby Crosshouse Hospital where he later died.

Police investigating the crash are believed to be looking at whether the driver became ill at the wheel. No-one else was injured in the crash.

Insp Drew Robertson said: "At this time we are trying to establish what happened and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Lawson Street, Kilmarnock on the afternoon of Monday 2 September and witnessed this incident to come forward."
