Appeal after three people hurt in Irvine road crash

Three people have been injured - one of them seriously - after a crash involving two cars in North Ayrshire.

A northbound Mitsubishi Outlander collided with a Vauxhall Meriva on the A78, near to the Meadowhead roundabout, Irvine, at about 19:05 on Sunday.

The 73-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi is being treated in hospital for a serious arm injury.

His 73-year-old female passenger and male driver of the Vauxhall, 63, were released after hospital treatment.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
